We are searching for a Banquet Captain/ Ma\xc3\xaetre d\' to join our Glenerin Inn and Spa team based in Mississauga, Ontario

About the Opportunity
  • Oversee events.
  • Set-up and breakdown all function rooms with team members.
  • Function as the contact person for the guests in the absence of manager oversight to review timeline of service, event menu, event details, floor plans, special requests, etc.
  • Hold pre-shift briefing to review BEOs and expected service standards.
  • Coordinate guest experience with the kitchen team.
  • Conduct pre-function briefings with banquet servers and review all information pertinent to setup and service of function.
  • Inspect employee grooming and uniforms, rectify any deficiencies
  • Assist with the completion of all paperwork and closing duties in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Review status of assignments and any follow-up action with the Executive Chef and/or oncoming team members.
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to the Executive Chef and Facility Maintenance Manager immediately.
  • Attending all scheduled team member meetings and bringing suggestions for improvement.
  • Performs other related duties as required
About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
  • Hotel experience in banquets overseeing weddings, social and corporate events
  • Must be available and willing to work most weekends (am/mid/pm shifts) and holidays including Mother\'s Day, Father\'s Day, Valentines\' Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year\'s Day/Eve.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months\' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients, and team members.
  • Knowledge of food and wine.
  • Familiar with POS systems (Silverware)
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, accounting software
