Job Summary



The Team:



Join the Peace District team within Regional Operations - Northeast Region, where we work together to manage BC's Crown land and natural resources responsibly. This long-standing team includes the District Manager, Directors, BC Timber Sales, and technical specialists in forestry, stewardship, range, and authorizations, all focused on balancing environmental stewardship with economic opportunity. Our work supports local communities, sustains jobs, and strengthens partnerships across the Natural Resource Sector and with Indigenous partners.


The Role:



This operational leadership role focuses on guiding forest and land management work across the Peace District while supporting a diverse team of managers, supervisors, professionals, and technical staff. It offers the chance to mentor emerging leaders, foster a respectful and collaborative workplace, and strengthen relationships with Indigenous partners to advance reconciliation. The work contributes to healthy forests, sustainable timber supply, and vibrant communities in the Northeast, helping shape how BC's public lands are managed for generations to come.


Qualifications:



Education and Experience Requirements:




University degree in a field related to Natural Resource Management, Business/Public Administration. Preference may be given for natural resource education. Considerable experience (typically four (4) to five (5) or more years) in the following: natural resource experience including some program management; and, management capacity within the public sector or industry including business and organizational planning accountabilities; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (e.g. related Master's Degree plus three (3) or more years of related experience; or Diploma in a natural resource field supplemented by seven (7) or more years of progressive and considerable senior level experience).

Additional experience may include:


Demonstrated experience and ability to manage high profile issues involving diverse internal and external partners and stakeholders, provide strategic advice, and develop creative solutions to complex problems. Experience managing the implementation of agreements, solutions, and partnerships with multiple parties and First Nations. Experience leading, coaching and managing multi-disciplinary management, professional and technical staff. Preference may be given for experience within a unionized work environment. Experience organizing, planning and managing complex and multiple projects concurrently to achieve business goals. Preference may be given for experience working within a matrix management structure where objectives are achieved by working across organizational boundaries, engaging in collaborative strategizing and reaching decisions through consensus. Preference may be given for experience in financial management.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
