Prince Edward Island Preserve Company is seeking guest-centric Baker in our full-service, high volume restaurant, in New Glasgow, PEI. We offer a relaxed dining experience in one of the most iconic locations on the island. For over 35 years, we have striven to use the freshest ingredients in the preparation of our menu items, and are known for their excellent guest service and delectable dining experiences.
Baker Responsibilities
Preparing, baking, and producing pastries, rolls, and desserts.
Decorating baked items
Preparing garnishes for baked items.
Recommending recipes to refresh our menu and bring in new customers (e.g. gluten-free or vegan desserts)
Keep track of food supply and place orders as required.
Utilizing adequate quantities and rotating products to keep spoilage/waste to a minimum.
Cleaning, dismantling, and storing all baking equipment, including: ovens, mixers, proofer, floors, freezer, and refrigerators.
Ensuring an appropriate supply of all prepared products as well as proper storage and refrigeration.
Baker Requirements
As a baker must have a food handler's license.
High school diploma or equivalent (preferably an associate's degree in hotel or institutional food preparation.)
Must be willing to move around constantly.
Ability to use hands and appliances, and lift heavy items for prolonged amounts of time in a hot, hectic atmosphere.
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to operate basic food service equipment safely and effectively.
Baking experience of at least 2 years is required.
Understanding of food safety practices.
Self-motivated and adaptable with a high level of energy for multi-tasking
Strong communication skills, ability to manage timeand resources, and general planning.
Close attention to the details, especially when inspecting materials and products for quality.
Willingness to solve problems, execute orders, and create delicious baked items on your own or with other team members.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 4 months
Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 42 per week
