Back-Up Material Handler Driver / Packaging Operator to join our team at Elmira Pet!
Afternoon Shift: Monday to Friday 3:30pm to 11:30pm // Night Shift: Sunday to Thursday 11:30pm to 7:30am
Reporting to the Production Foreperson, the Backup Material Handler Driver is responsible for delivering materials, product, and equipment for Elmira Pet Products to and from the Mixing Plant to the Production areas. This position only requires driving on Company premises.
Packaging Operators report to the Packaging Foreperson and is responsible for setting up machines, packaging product, ensuring good quality and seals, piling bags onto skids, and changing over packaging material when necessary.
Rate range: $24.10 to $28.81 per hour (inclusive of shift premium)

What you'll do as a Backup Material Handler Driver:
Drive truck and dump trailer (on site) to pick up and deliver bulk dry mix to support extrusion.
Receive bulk, bagged, or toted ingredients, (meats, liquid and dry ingredients), from outside providers.
Operate tow motor to receive materials, move materials within the plant, and to load materials for shipment.
Able to operate 18 wheelers tandem dump trailer (40)
Assist in production changeovers, machine cleaning, and sanitation.
Reconciling material quantities when picking up from Mixing to Production
Move rework trailers and clean all trailers as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
What you'll do as a Packaging Operator:
Set up & operate packaging machines
Package product while ensuring good seals and legible & accurate date codes
Understand work instructions and work order paperwork to complete customer work orders
Pile bags onto skids and wrap according to packaging slip sheet
Continually monitor the line and troubleshoot for problems
Perform quality checks
Changeover packaging for the machinery making necessary adjustments to ensure efficient packaging of product
Assist with sanitation duties as required to ensure work area is clean, tidy, and organized
Perform other duties as needed
What you'll have:
A positive attitude!
High school diploma or equivalent
Reliable vehicle to travel to and from work (as there is no bus route that travels out here)
Previous packaging and manufacturing experience an asset
Fully capable of operating a packaging line (Mechanical aptitude, logical problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills required; basic maintenance knowledge of packaging lines and set up preferred)
Ability to continuously lift to 50lbs without assistance (rotating positions that allow for ergonomic breaks)
Able to work in a fast-paced work environment with fluctuating temperatures
Valid G driver's licence with ability to drive standard transmission vehicles.
Able to operate 18 wheelers tandem dump trailer (40').
Valid AZ driver's licence an asset.
Clean driving record.
Ability to drive tow motor.
