Role: ID: Backend Engineer Newsroom Transformation
Location: Halifax-Nova Scotia - Remote
Duration: Contract
Mandatory Skills : Microservices, Python, AWS Lambda, AWS RDS,AWS S3,AWS API Gateway, SQS, SNS, Aws Step Functions, Django, Docker, Dynamo DB
Description:

  • 5 years backend development experience preferably in distributed microservices environments
  • Strong expertise in Nodejs TypeScript and Expressjs mandatory
  • Solid understanding of PostgreSQL
  • Handson experiences using LangChain to interface with LLMs mandatory
  • Proven experience with LLM prompt engineering and finetuning mandatory
  • Basic to intermediate experience in Python for AIML tasks
  • Familiarity with Git Docker and CICD pipelines
  • Experience with at least one cloud provider Google Cloud preferred AWS acceptable
  • Understanding of microservice architectures
  • Ability to write and maintain comprehensive tests for backend systems
  • Comfortable with asynchronous collaboration and working across time zones
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Familiarity with CircleCI
  • PHP knowledge is a plus not mandatory
  • Prior experience integrating third-party AI vendors
  • Background in media publishing or newsroom technology is advantageous
