Back Country Park Operator - Bowron Lake Provincial Park

4 days on / 4 days off rotation

$22.5 per hour

Position Overview:
Park Operators live and work in the world-famous
Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit
-- a 116 km chain of 10 lakes set within a 150,000-hectare wilderness area in the Cariboo Mountains. Operators are responsible for maintaining facilities, operating boats, supporting visitors, and ensuring the safe and smooth operation of the park in both frontcountry and backcountry settings.
This is a remote field position requiring strong self-sufficiency, teamwork, and experience working and living in wilderness environments.
Mandatory Qualifications (Required Before June 10, 2025):
First Aid - Level 1
Pleasure Craft Operator Certificate (PCOC)
Preferred Experience:
Experience living and working in remote or wilderness environments
Experience operating jet boats and small outboards
Basic mechanical, trail maintenance, or chainsaw operation skills
Customer service
Guest education on policies and rules
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily campground servicing and maintenance in backcountry areas
Small boat operation and minor maintenance
Trail maintenance, including chainsaw work and brushing
Communicating and education of BC Parks policies and regulations to visitors
Conducting scheduled staff check-ins via radio and InReach devices
Supporting emergency response efforts when required
Work Environment:
Work in a remote wilderness area with limited access to services
Shared accommodation during shifts with access to Wi-Fi, running water, and hot showers
4 days on / 4 days off schedule
Transportation to the park and food supplies are the employee's responsibility
Additional Assets:
Chainsaw certification (or willingness to obtain)
Basic Search and Rescue (SAR) or wilderness safety training
Mechanical aptitude for equipment repairs
