Role Summary

As a Sr. Consultant, Data Engineer on our team, you are the person that will receive detailed and high-level requirements & specifications from the client for implementation. You will analyze, design, develop, optimize, test, and document Data programs and solutions to meet our client\xe2\x80\x99s needs. You will work with Architects, Designers, Business Analysts, and other Developers to provide quality development deliverables.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Design, build and develop scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Participate in the requirements gathering, analysis and solutions design.
• Effectively analyze situations, breaking down problems and identifying key issues.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders (technical & non-technical), including senior management, to provide updates on projects and ensure that goals are achieved.
• Create detailed technical documentation in accordance with client standards and best practices, ensuring that the codebase is always up to date.
• Conduct unit & integration tests, assisting in test preparations to ensure data integrity, data quality, and program functional completeness & correctness.
• Implement processes aligned to data management best practices (as defined or adopted by the client \xe2\x80\x93 like DevOps, Agile) and standards, ensuring data quality and process performance within all system development deliverables.
• Maintain up-to-date Industry knowledge, to be able to quickly propose Azure Data Platform solutions following the latest best practices learned from MVP & Product Team articles, MSFT documentation, whitepapers, and community publications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• 5+ years of experience implementing end-to-end data engineering solutions including data processing, data warehousing, data mapping and transformations, data dependencies, data source analysis and profiling.
• 3 years of experience with Azure cloud tools; Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Databases, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Synapse Analytics Services, Azure Databrick, Azure Purview.
• Enterprise-scale technical experience with Azure cloud and hybrid infrastructures, architecture designs, and technology management.
• Experience with Distributed Data Processing of big data batch and streaming pipelines.
• Knowledge in Python to interact with data sources/sinks such as Relational/NoSQL databases, persistent storage like Azure Blob and streaming systems.
• Familiar with Relational database modelling concepts (ER/Dimensional modelling) and accessing patterns (SQL/MDX).
• Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall delivery methodology
• Strong critical thinking capabilities. Approach all work with a consultative mindset.

Nice to Have

• Certification in Azure is an asset
• Testing automation and other related or emerging technologies is an asset
• Knowledgeable in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts and methods.
