About us

Thompson's Iron and Metal is a new and fast-growing scrap metal processor in Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada. Situated just moments away from Highway 11 and the Beiers Landfill Site, our company specializes in procuring, evaluating, handling and refining ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals. Our clientele includes waste management corporations, demolition contractors and individual contributors.

With over 20 years of experience in the scrap industry, Thompson's Iron & Metal is the next generation of the scrap yard's success story. Since its incubation, the company has undergone remarkable growth, establishing itself as a prominent force in the industry. With the goal of continuous growth and success, we are currently seeking an experienced and reliable AZ Driver. As a key member of our team, our AZ Driver is responsible for maintaining a good CVOR and clean drivers abstract. Heavy Haul experience is required. Year round work. Monday to Friday - weekend work optional.

Job Duties

Responsible for transporting metal goods to and from assigned locations while adhering to time schedules in an efficient and effective manner. Ensuring the safe operation of assigned vehicles. Maintain cleanliness and a high standard of vehicle upkeep. Adhere to the rules and regulations of the road. Professional presentation and interaction with internal and external stakeholders. Accurate completion of driver logbook Accurate and thorough completion of Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip as applicable). Other transportation duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

Valid AZ License CVOR and Drivers Abstract in good standing. Letter of experience from previous employer's insurance provider from the last 3 years. Experience with manual transmission. Professional communication skills and a positive attitude. Strong and problem-solving abilities. Continuous improvement mindset. Willingness to interchange vehicles, depending on job task. (ie. roll-off truck, equipment float, 5-axle tin scow trailer)

Working Conditions

Part-full time position, operating in all weather conditions, as deemed safe by the Manager. Short amounts of moderate physical activity, as necessary to complete duties.
