Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and customer service. This position involves transporting steel across Southern Ontario while ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the integrity of the freight. A successful Truck Driver will possess excellent driving skills, knowledge of vehicle maintenance, and the ability to handle heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

Operate commercial trucks safely and efficiently to transport standard steel to designated locations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition. Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of steel on flatbed trailer. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, using Elogs and delivery times Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the vehicle. Perform basic mechanical repairs as needed to keep the vehicle in optimal condition.

Qualifications

Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record. Experience in commercial driving is preferred; familiarity with flat bed. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation is advantageous. Basic mechanical repair skills are desirable for maintaining vehicle performance. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines. Must be able to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) as required during loading and unloading processes.
