The

Aviation Operations Coordinator

is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and supporting day-to-day operations involving scheduled charter flights. This includes providing operational support to contracted charter airlines, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, and offering critical assistance during irregular operations (IROPs).


The role works closely with client travel services, ground transportation, and aerodrome operations to maintain efficient and timely flight execution.


This is a 6-month contract (with possibility to extend), part time position with 20-32hrs/week. Modified work schedule Thursday, Fridays and Sunday. This is a hybrid role with remote and onsite requirements at the Firebag Airport.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




Provides remote support as the single point of contact for aerodrome management during irregular operations. Coordinates with airlines, travel services, and ground transportation in response to delays and cancellations. Conduct Daily Morning Operations calls, providing key information to various stakeholders in regard to previous day/day of operations. Responsible for approving and coordinating all cargo and COMAT requests. Provide approvals and first point of contact for late and "no show" passengers to airline guest services Communication with all stakeholders during abnormal events (including but not limited to updating client website and providing client IROP notifications). Participate in OCC operational conference calls and provide any concerns from an airport Track and record KPIs for air operations as per the commercial contract and provide information regarding delay investigations. Monitor and track charter schedule changes including cancelations, flight additions and up-gauge and down-gauges related to commercial contract terms. Assist in the implementation of safety protocols and quality assurance checks. Participate in the improvement of policies and procedures, emergency plans, SOP's, etc Submit timely reports to site manager, airport leadership, and the safety management system (SMS). Promote a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement. Facilitate training of new Aviation Specialists and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship. Adhere to Canadian Base Operators policies, procedures, and core values. Assist other departments as needed to maintain operational flow and meet critical deadlines. Ensure full compliance to all regulatory guidelines (Transport Canada, Air Carriers, etc.). Abide by and work in compliance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety laws, regulations and/or safe work practices defined by the workplace Be aware of emergency and evacuation procedures, and perform duties as laid out in the airport emergency response plan Participate and complete all required training. Contribute to a safe, respectful, and productive working environment. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS




Must be 18 years or older. High school diploma or equivalent required. Airport operations work experience




WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS




2-5 years of experience in various aviation related sectors.


SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS




+ Complete understanding of all domestic corporate flight operations requirements. + Knowledge of IATA / Transport Canada aircraft and crew scheduling regulations
+ Knowledge of airport facilities, security systems and baggage systems
+ Familiar with aircraft scheduling and ground operations
+ Knowledge of possible cross-team issues and inter-connectivity of the aviation teams (Pilots, Flight Attendants, Ground handling)
+ Familiar with Transport Canada and CARs regulations (specifically CASS-705 and CASS-725) on the requirements of flight watch and dispatch. This includes aircraft usage, aircrew duty (duty day and crewing requirements), maintenance (dispatch limits for aircraft), and communication of weather to crew.
+ Ability to balance multiple assignments, changing priorities and meeting multiple deadlines
+ Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain an analytical thought process under pressure.
+ Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
+ Familiarity with Transport Canada regulations, SMS (Safety Management Systems), and occupational health and safety regulations.
+ Advanced computer skills.
