Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (\xe2\x80\x9cTriton\xe2\x80\x9d) is seeking highly-motivated and enthusiastic Avian Biologists/Technologists to join a well-established team of environmental professionals in our Terrace office.

THE ROLE

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing avian expertise to field staff and project management teams. This position will appeal to individuals with a passion for working outdoors and who are comfortable working in a construction environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical avian support to collaborative project teams
  • Conducting bird survey and monitoring procedures, including breeding bird surveys, pre-disturbance nest surveys, nest monitoring, and various sensitive species-specific surveys
  • Establishing construction \xe2\x80\x98buffer\xe2\x80\x99 zones and working with construction crews to avoid nest disturbance
  • Advising construction crews on avian best management practices
  • Contributing to the avian components of project deliverables and reports
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and contractors
  • Contributing to Triton\xe2\x80\x99s collaborative, safety-conscious culture
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.Sc. or technical diploma in biology, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, or related degree
  • Demonstrated avian-related experience
  • Demonstrated experience conducting pre-construction bird nest surveys/sweeps
  • Extensive western Canada songbird identification skills and experience
  • Experience in the interpretation and application of provincial and federal wildlife/avian regulation as it pertains to construction activities (e.g., BC Wildlife Act, MBCA)
  • Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver\'s license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
