The AV Systems Designer will play critical critical role in ensuring the successful design, documentation, and implementation of audio-visual systems for a diverse range of clients in the museum, theme park, and immersive experience sectors. This individual will possess a strong understanding of AV technologies, excellent design skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, Project & Technical Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive solutions tailored to the unique needs of each project. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, specify, and verify comprehensive AV and lighting systems with attention to critical details such as control protocols, protocol conversions, network layers, device communication, and other key elements to ensure high-performing, reliable systems that meet client requirements.
Work closely with project teams to develop a detailed technical Scope of Work, identify scope gaps, and execute project deliverables to ensure successful AV installations and integrations.
Identify and understand the functionality and intent of each system component and ensure their needs are met as the project evolves.
Optimizes and implement efficiencies in the over all design in conjunction with each discipline's subject matter expert.
Create detailed system block diagrams, signal flow diagrams, and equipment layouts and schedules to illustrate interoperability and communication between components and subsystems. Be responsible for all system architecture (including interconnects and software licences) across internal and external disciplines to ensure required functionality and seamless device communication.
Work with the Network Architect to identify and maintain documentation for all VLAN and other network traffic requirements.
Consult and prepare reports on technology, protocols, systems, capital replacement, or their implementation as an advocate for the end user of Eos Lightmedia's products.
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and timelines for system designs and implementation, including equipment costs, labor requirements, operational and maintenance expenses.
Oversee the team responsible for completion of commissioning, testing, and installation of all AV and lighting systems to ensure project timelines are adhered to in accordance with the specified system.
Stay updated on the latest AV technologies, trends, and best practices to enhance system performance and efficiency.
Be available as a Subject Matter Expert to support the Eos Lightmedia team in daily business operations.
Knowledge and Skills:
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in reading detailed drawings such as AV schematics, elevations, rack layouts, electrical drawings, and Architectural sets.
Experience with signal pathing, projection studies, electrical load calculations, analog and digital communication protocols, and familiarity with line voltage and extra-low voltage wiring systems in commercial buildings.
Experience with low-voltage wiring, terminations, and cable management, as well as Ethernet-based networks and AV-over-IP systems. Strong problem-solving skills, with a creative and innovative approach to delivering solutions.
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of the latest AV technologies, including digital media, networking, projection, audio, lighting, and control systems.
Professional certification such as CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist - Design) or equivalent is advantageous.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Ability to thrive under pressure while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Self-motivated and deadline-oriented, with a strong work ethic. Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel. A valid U.S. or Canadian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with media server and other playback device implementation and programming (Pixera, Medialon, BrightSign, QLab, TouchDesigner, Dante, etc)
Relevant certifications (Qsys, CTS, Cisco CCNA, or other AV Industry Certifications). Familiarity with CAD programs (Vectorworks, Revit preferred).
