Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced AV Field Engineer and Service Lead who can take ownership of both simple and complex service issues, advanced technical tasks, system configuration and commissioning support. This is a senior technical role designed to relieve the leadership team from day-to-day technical escalations and system setup.
This is not an entry level service technician or IT support role.
We require someone who already understands commercial AV systems and can work independently without supervision.
You will support field technicians, solve technical problems, configure systems before deployment, assist with commissioning tasks and manage service activities. The ideal candidate is currently working as a field engineer, senior service technician, commissioning technician or lead installer.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Field Support
Act as the senior technical resource for field teams and service requests
Support technicians both remotely and on-site when they encounter issues
Resolve simple issues quickly and manage complex problems thoroughly
Reduce the need for leadership involvement by handling escalations directly
Provide guidance and technical mentorship to less experienced technicians
System Staging and Configuration
Prepare systems for installation including device configuration and testing
Configure control processors and DSP units
Stage equipment, label components, dress cabling and verify all functionality
Validate racks and systems prior to deployment
Commissioning Support
Assist with system commissioning tasks such as loading control programs, tuning audio and validating system performance
Review schematics and elevations and ensure field work matches project documentation
Test and verify all system functionality prior to handover
Service Coordination and Troubleshooting
Manage and coordinate service calls and ticket assignments
Diagnose and repair both simple faults and complex system problems
Perform firmware updates, device resets, component replacements and detailed diagnostics
Communicate solutions clearly to clients and internal teams
Maintain accurate notes, logs and service documentation
Technical Duties
Install, test and maintain commercial AV systems
Work with AV devices that rely on networks including PoE powered devices and basic VLAN concepts
Verify compatibility, update firmware and ensure stable system operation
Read and interpret schematics, floor plans and rack drawings
Maintain service tools, spare parts and spare equipment inventory.
Required Qualifications
AVIXA CTS certification
5 or more years of commercial AV experience in installation, service or field engineering
Strong understanding of audio, video and control signal flow
Experience with Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Q-SYS or similar platforms
Ability to commission systems and configure DSP and control devices
Strong troubleshooting skills for both simple and complex issues
Comfortable working at heights using ladders or lifts
Able to lift 50 pounds when needed
Valid G-class driver license with a clean abstract (Must be 25 or older for insurance requirements)
Working at Heights certification is required
Professional communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients
Able to work independently and make technical decisions without oversight
Strong organization and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
AVIXA CTS-I or CTS-D
Crestron, Extron, Biamp or Q-SYS manufacturer training
Experience creating service reports, logs and commissioning documentation
Familiarity with structured cabling and termination standards
