Note: This is a term position with an expected to last 9 months.
We are currently looking for a Auxiliary Power Engineer (Term) to join our Power Production team in a temporary position. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for all aspects of the safe and cost-efficient operation of the high-pressure boiler turbine unit(s) and all associated auxiliary equipment. Key elements of this role include::
As an Auxiliary Power Engineer (Term):
You must be able to work effectively as a member of the Power Production Operations Team and be capable of functioning in a planned work environment.
You will be required to participate in competency-based training, regulatory training and be willing to participate in on-the-job training or training programs that support the development of additional skills.
You will work on an as required basis within the confines of the NSPI/IBEW Collective Agreement.
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
You will be responsible for solid environmental performance of the plant and support all ISO 14001 processes and initiatives. We encourage that you participate as a member of the Emergency Response.
You may be temporarily assigned to other locations to assist other areas when required and will be expected to travel throughout the province.
It is the responsibility of the Power Engineer to ensure that NSPI is in compliance with all NERC/NPCC reliability standards related to Power Production.
Your primary residence must be located within 60 minutes of headquarters, and you may be required to respond to call-outs.
