Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Automotive Shop Lead Hand to oversee the daily operations of our automotive repair shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring high-quality repairs, maintaining customer satisfaction, and ensuring that all work meets safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of automotive repair processes, and excellent customer service capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:



Staff Management

: Hire, train, and manage a team of technicians, mechanics, and support staff. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure that the team works efficiently and effectively.

Operations Management

: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the shop, including scheduling, inventory management, and ensuring that all equipment and tools are well-maintained.

Customer Service

: Act as the point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints. Ensure that customers receive clear estimates, accurate service recommendations, and high-quality repairs.

Quality Control

: Monitor and ensure that all repairs meet or exceed industry standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. Conduct final inspections of completed work before delivery.

Financial Oversight

: Monitor and manage the shop's budget, including cost control, pricing, and revenue generation. Work to meet or exceed sales and profitability targets.

Compliance & Safety

: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding environmental, safety, and workplace standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Inventory & Supplies

: Oversee the ordering and inventory of parts, tools, and supplies. Negotiate with suppliers for the best prices and ensure timely delivery of parts.

Process Improvement

: Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and improvements in customer service. Implement best practices to increase productivity and customer satisfaction.

Reporting

: Prepare and submit regular reports on shop performance, financial status, and other key metrics to ownership or upper management.

Requirements:



Experience

: 3+ years of experience in an automotive repair shop, with at least 1 year in a management or supervisory role.

Education

: High school diploma or equivalent; automotive certification (ASE, etc.) preferred.

Skills

: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Knowledge of automotive repair processes, parts, and equipment.

Technical Knowledge

: Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostic tools, and repair procedures.

Physical Requirements

: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:



Experience with shop management software and scheduling systems. Previous experience managing budgets and financial planning. ASE certification or equivalent.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a hands-on repair environment. You may be exposed to noise, chemicals, and machinery as part of the job. Proper safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$40.00 per hour
