Job description and duties


Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Prince Rupert, invites applications for a non-regular Automotive Instructor to teach an Introduction to Automotive program as outlined below. The course will be delivered at Charles Hays Secondary School. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale, ranging from $37.55 to $53.81 per hour plus pay in lieu of vacation and benefits.

Duties: Working alongside with the Charles Hays teacher, this position will facilitate learning for students (high school aged) in an introductory Automotive program (through in-class and practical skills) and is responsible for ensuring student success. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure shop safety, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required to teach the following:


Automotive- as soon as possible to June 26, 2026 (classes will be delivered on Tuesday mornings)

Qualifications


A Red Seal certification as an Automotive Service Technician or relevant Trades is required. Preferences include a Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification, and teaching experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Successful applicants will need to provide a clear criminal record check to SD 52 in order to commence the position.
