We are currently seeking a highly motivated, technically skilled, and team-oriented Automation Technician to join our team and contribute to our culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Position Overview
The Automation Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing a variety of automated systems. This hands-on role involves diagnosing complex issues in robotic and PLC-controlled systems, supporting plant projects, and executing preventative and corrective maintenance with a focus on uptime, safety, and long-term reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in robotic weld cells, stamping lines, and automation systems
Modify paths, perform program edits, and optimize KUKA robot programs (KRC2/KRC4)
Perform PLC fault diagnosis and basic logic edits (Allen-Bradley: Studio 5000, RSLogix 500)
Support plant engineering and maintenance projects, including equipment upgrades and improvements
Conduct preventive maintenance on robots, weld controllers, sensors, and related automation hardware
Document system changes, maintain asset records, and track critical spares/consumables
Collaborate closely with skilled trades and engineering teams on cross-functional problem-solving
Respond to production calls with urgency, professionalism, and a logical, solution-driven approach
Qualifications
Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology (Industrial Automation), Electromechanical Engineering Technician (Robotics), or equivalent experience
Hands-on experience troubleshooting robotic and PLC systems in a manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of robot systems
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000, FTView, RSLogix 500)
Basic understanding of communication protocols (DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, IO LinkWT)
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Proficient with hand tools and diagnostic instruments
Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Assets
Experience with Kuka, Kawasaki or Yaskawa Motoman robots
Knowledge of WTC, Bosch, and other weld controllers
Familiarity with resistance spot welding, projection welding, or robotic MIG welding
