Bimbo Canada pursues our goal of creating value by being at the forefront of manufacturing and service delivery innovation in the baking industry through the continued improvement and refinement of its supply chain network while serving major grocery chains, retail outlets and foodservice operations across Canada.Position Summary: #LI-Onsite #LI-CW2We are seeking a self-motivated candidate to provide maintenance support to a 24/7 highly automated and fast paced distribution center. The qualified candidate should have strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills with a strong background in mechanical maintenance. The position will require a strong understanding of mechanical portions of automated machinery as well as basic understanding of electrical, pneumatics, PC\'s, robotics, and Ethernet networks.This role will operate out of the Langley, BC distribution center reporting to the Senior Automation Technician.Key Job Responsibilities:o Provide expertise on mechanical systems, bearings, conveyors, servos, robotics and computer systems.o Participate in root cause problem solving sessions to review specific pieces of the process with the goal of eliminating waste and downtime to meet all distribution team goalso Maintain comprehensive log of all preventative maintenance inspections and other significant equipment related issues and activities.o Ensure that system is operating optimally or take immediate corrective actions.o Make recommendations if system should be operated differently.o Make proposals on how the overall system could be improved.o Troubleshooting:

  • Take part in troubleshooting.
  • Analyze errors and plan corrective measures to further prevent problems.
  • Execute corrective measures in co-operation with machinery manufacturer.
  • Develop methods as a team to determine root causes.
  • Maintain records of system error quantity and error severity in order to prioritize the corrective actions.
o Ongoing control of the system functionality and initiatives to improve the system and practiceso Weekly meetings and reporting activities
  • Maintain comprehensive log of all preventative inspections and other significant equipment related issues and activities.
o Spare part management
  • Assist in maintaining spare part inventory.
  • Make spare part recommendations.
o Provide support for the manufacturing internet network and act as a liaison between distribution personnel and corporate ITo Supports without hesitation Distribution Center Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes & are Priority #1.o Assures that General Safety and Food Safety is an absolute priority.o Work closely with distribution supervisors and managers to provide effective maintenance supporto Promote a strong teamwork environment with entire DC teamo Ensure equipment in area is maintained, guarded and operated in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedureso Identify potential cost savings and cost avoidance.o Experience with the following is preferred
  • Microsoft Office
  • Troubleshooting Automated Equipment
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude/experience
  • Replacement of mechanical parts such as: Bearings, Chains, Motors, Conveyors
  • Basic Electrical Controls Knowledge
o Assist in regular building maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and well-maintained facility.o Assist in developing new safety procedures/programs and local DC policieso Excellent communication skillso Must be a self-starter.o Willing to travel for training and visit suppliers, bakeries and other locations as need, albeit it infrequently.Key Behavioral Competencies:

Position Requirements
  • Strong Mechanical background
  • Experience in a consumer-packaged goods environment is preferred
  • Candidate must be able to participate in on call rotation
  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as the role may involve adapting to changing maintenance needs including working nights, afternoons, or mornings.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stack/unstack or carry, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time
