We are seeking a skilled Automation Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in industrial maintenance and electrical systems, with expertise in automation technologies. This role involves working with various systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems, and vision inspection systems, to ensure optimal performance and reliability in our manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Adhere to all Corporate, Provincial, and Federal Safety requirements
Perform operating, start-up, shut-down, troubleshooting and corrective procedures for automated production and assembly equipment in accordance with established guidelines
Continuously observe quality and throughput of automated processes
Carry out adjustments on automated processes to maintain Quality of finished product
Attend to material requirements of automated machines during production (load automated parts feeders, dispense system reservoirs, replace consumable hardware.)
Perform daily 5S of automated production and assembly equipment, and the areas around such equipment
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks for automated production and assembly equipment
Track inventory of critical spare parts and maintenance parts for automated production and assembly equipment, and notify Supervisor when re-orders are required
Perform periodic equipment software backup and restoration, robotic programming, vision inspection programming, and any other equipment that relies on software configuration to support production
Assist Maintenance Personnel (where required) in performance of Preventive Maintenance and Repair activities on automated production equipment
Participate in Continuous Improvement activities as directed by the Controls and Automation Engineer
Wear all safety PPE, Shoes, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Mask, Ear muff when and wherever required
Assist set-up tech with process change over
Evaluate & modify EOAT as required
Perform other duties assigned by reporting manager
Skills:
Able to operate and troubleshoot automated production equipment, including:
o Safety sensors, interlocks, controllers, and safety PLCs.
o Automation sensors, including proximity sensors, photo-electric sensor, ultrasonic sensors, limit switches.
o Automation actuators, including cylinders, servo motors, AC motors, DC motors, linear actuators.
o Material handling components, including grippers, vacuum generators, piping, and suction hardware.
o Pneumatic components, including valves, actuators, sensors, fittings and hosing.
o Articulated industrial robots, especially in an injection molding environment.
Able to read, understand, edit, and debug robot programming, both offline, and during path teach.
Able to inspect produced parts for defects, and suggest corrective actions.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Good understanding of IATF - 16949 & ISO 14001 procedures for processes
