Automation Technician

Job Description

Support with all automation, process development and optimization, providing support and guidance as required to the automation and assembly equipment maintenance Perform PM as required to maximize the reliability of the work cells

Understanding of electrical schematics, blueprints and pneumatic/ hydraulics systems

Train production employees on the automation equipment so they can properly use the equipment / fixtures. Update as new lines and cells are developed

Assist in the maintenance of automation equipment and automation systems, reporting any issues to the Automation Supervisor, and production leads

Ability to refer to the quality specification forms to verify that products comply with required standard

Interact with other Automation Technicians and other manufacturing groups to accomplish PM, Changeovers, Minor repairs and upkeep to keep system running, and basic mechanical troubleshooting and repair.

Work with the vision systems (adjust if necessary), pad printers (change ink), sensors, and light curtains.

Communicate with team members regarding equipment condition, equipment needs, and work completed during the shift

Identify roadblocks and recommend appropriate resolutions Continually look for new opportunities to improve current equipment, processes, and efficiencies. Utilize automation in the plant in order improve productivity and labour efficiencies.

Assist in root cause analysis when customer complaints arise, help implement corrective actions such as poka-yoke, vision systems, and other automated measures. Assist with managing automation asset inventory, spare parts management, program change logs, program backup data base and safety precautions as it pertains to automation Ensures compliance of IATF-16949 systems and procedures Perform housekeeping checks to ensure compliance to 5S Performs all jobs in a safe manner, strictly abiding by company health and safety regulations Performs other duties as required Post-secondary education or certificate in Robotics and Industrial Automation, or related field 3-5 years experience in Automation in a manufacturing industrial setting Must be mechanically inclined Hands-on experience with Wittmann, Fanuc, Ranger, Yushin robot an asset

Hands-on experience with Vision systems (Keyence) an asset.

Knowledge of MS Office software such as Excel, Word, Outlook

Able to convey technical information to members of the leadership and co-workers

Ability to think & execute strategically and is results oriented Self-motivated individual with a strong problem-solving skill with the ability to work effectively in a team or individual setting Able to work independently and in a teamwork environment Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi task as required Ability to use a Milling machine, lathe and drill press is an asset

Ability to handle moderate-to-high stress due to the pressure of production deadlines. Must be able to handle high mental effort.

Can do attitude - pleasant demeanor when interacting with individuals outside/inside the company, even on heated situations

Injection molding and Automotive industry an asset

Ability to work overtime and flexible with shifts
12 Hour shift
