Giant Tiger Wholesale is looking to hire an Automation System Operator for our fully automated 660,000 square foot distribution centre in Johnstown, ON! The Automation System Operator will oversee the safe, efficient operation of the automated system, ensuring compliance with OSHA and Giant Tiger standards. Key responsibilities include monitoring system and robotic vehicle performance, scheduling and coordinating maintenance, and troubleshooting software or equipment issues in collaboration with the whole Automation team. The position also involves maintaining detailed logs, training team members, and serving as the on-site software expert to keep production running smoothly.
This is a temporary position that ends on December 28th with the possibility of extension.

Additional $2/hour for hours worked 9:00pm - 6:00am

Automation System Operator HighlightsEnsure that the safety commitments in compliance with OSHA, Giant Tiger, and our customers' processes and procedures are met daily.
Monitor system performance and availability of both personnel and automated robotic vehicles.
Work with customer to schedule and produce orders and receive inventory.
Troubleshoot system stoppages and determine best course of action to maintain system up-time.
Effectively communicate and troubleshoot software issues with off-site software engineers and on-site management team.
Operate system via custom GUI. Ensure safe and proper operation of system.
Plan daily activities and coordinate system maintenance with maintenance personnel and Automation Manager based upon daily needs of warehouse operations.
Maintain accurate logs of major events. Become the on-site software expert with an excellent understanding of system interrelations and consequences.
Assess cause of automated robotic vehicle failure, examine log files and take detailed notes and alert service personnel.
Assist and train other automation team operators in troubleshooting and repairs of any equipment as required, consistent with level of experience and training.
Communicate with tier support to drive system production.

Automation System Operator RequirementsMinimum of 3 years in an Information Systems, Computer and/or automation experience desired.
Experience to lead and guide employees on daily standard work.
Strong communication skill to be able to effectively communicate cross-functionally.
Brings strong organizational skills to ensure overall systems is operating efficiently.
Ability to learn new equipment and assist team members as needed.
Ability to Multi-task and perform multiple job functions at once.
Frequent ability to safely and efficiently lift items weighing up to 50lbs and move items weighing up to 80lbs.
Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours and is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must be capable of occasional and/or continuous feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet. Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.

Automation System Operator, Job ScheduleRotating 12-hour shifts, 2 weeks on days, 2 weeks on nights
Sample shift schedule:Week 1 - 6:30am to 7:00pm - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
Week 2 - 6:30am to 7:00pm - Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
Week 3 - 6:30pm to 7:00am - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
Week 4 - 6:30pm to 7:00am - Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
