What You'll Be Doing:
  • Design mechanical systems including robotics, gauges, jigs, and automation equipment
  • Analyze engineering drawings and perform calculations for strength, speed, force, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and customer-specific standards
  • Collaborate with electrical designers and project teams
  • Select and requisition mechanical components
  • Create detailed drawings and bills of materials using SolidWorks
  • Support manufacturing during build, debug, and integration phases
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Supervise design efforts and delegate tasks when needed
  • Organize project documentation and assist in proposals and estimates
  • Mentor junior designers and co-op students
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures
What We're Looking For:
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in automation or special-purpose equipment design
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Experience with robotic cells and assembly systems (asset)
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and electrical systems (switches, sensors, etc.)
  • Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High integrity and results-driven mindset
Bonus Points If You Have:
  • Experience with machine shop techniques
  • Leadership experience in design teams
  • Familiarity with customer-specific standards and machine safety
