To support our growth initiatives, we are expanding our team and are looking for innovative, forward-thinking people who enjoy challenges and want to add value to project success, both locally and internationally.We are seeking an Automation Field Engineer to join our Global Minerals & Metals (M&M) team and to support our growth to align with the demand to supply responsibly sourced critical minerals. The Automation Field Engineer will support all Automation activities during a mineral process plant construction.This role will be based in Newfoundland & Labrador. This position offers a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) schedule, with rotations of 2 weeks in / 2 weeks R & R.Your role within the team:

  • Supervise and support I&C contractor on all related activities.
  • Instruct, guidance, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to automation systems for I&C contractor in the construction site.
  • Preparation of documentation for the pre-operational verification and commissioning
  • On-site support for the instrumentation activities; calibration, loop checking, troubleshooting, pre-operational verification and commissioning.
  • Derive information, evaluate, and comment on vendor package documents and drawings, as required.
  • Respond to the contractors RFI\xe2\x80\x99s and queries. Marked-up and redlined automation\xe2\x80\x99s (I&C) documentation/drawings.
  • Attend in daily and weekly meetings with client and contractors. Interact with clients, provide technical support to the team, and identify project needs and requirements.

The ideal candidate:
  • 15+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer/Specialist with expertise in Metal & Mining Instruments, Control Systems, and Mechanical Packages.
  • Proficiency in creating and interpreting Automation Engineering documents and drawings, with the ability to effectively communicate design intent to installation contractors.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently in field environments.
  • Knowledgeable about PLCs (Allen Bradley ControlLogix), DCS (ABB) Remote I/O designs and interconnections, network switch installation and testing, and fiber optic cabling and termination.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
