Function: Use AutoCAD-Microvellum software to create and maintain complete and accurate submittal, production and procurement drawings from the information received (Sketches to architectural drawings/Conversation to email). These drawings need to meet the customers design intent while holding to all Sandha Woodworks Service Ltd.. engineering standards. Accurate/complete bills of material will also need to be maintained for each item in the system. Drawings and BOMs will need to be maintained through the submittal, pre-production and post-production processes. Specific Skills:
- Create drawings or drawing packages for submittal
- Sketch/Design development in 2-D along with 3-D drafting/Solid model creation
- Create drawing packages for production
- Develop shop drawings and detailed drawings for any production items.
- Occasional Travel to meet with clients or to job sites to confirm drawings vs. site dimensions
- Assist project Estimators & Production Manager with any problems that may arise
- Determine project hardware form, fit and function
- Update drawing redlines and revisions as they occur.
- Meet all client drawing needs and design expectations
- Work toward 100% Accuracy on all drawings and associated documentation
- Work toward 100% Completeness as per current project scope
- Excellent time management skills are an asset
- Must be able to work well individually or within a team environment
- Effectively communicate with internal and external customers (Verbally and via email)
- Meet target dates for each step of the design process
- Must be able to work on several projects/items at different levels of completeness at any time
- Answer all clients questions as needed and in a timely manner
- Review ALL drawings for accuracy and completeness
- Adhere to all safety rules while out on the shop floor
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Management
- Must be able to occasionally work in a dusty or loud area, to work through machining or design issues with production personnel
- CAD Design Diploma from a technical field from an accredited educational institution, or significant industrial design experience in a hands-on custom-engineered millwork product environment. Microvellum experienced candidates will be considered first for this position.
- Three plus (1+) years of experience within a related manufacturing industry in both a Design and Engineering setting. Related Design experience of 5+ years desired in a custom to mid-volume manufacturing environment \xe2\x80\x93 preferably in wood or metal.
- Fluent in AutoCAD both 2D and 3D
- Microvellum 2023 AutoCAD Add-on Design Software ( Definite Asset for this position )
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook
- Familiar with bills of material
- Familiarity with Microsoft logic formulas ( Not mandatory but an asset )
- Self-motivated highly organized
- Must have strong Millwork Design experience
- Efficient and accurate work habits with a strong attention to critical thinking and communication
- Strong work ethic and a proactive team spirit
- Ability to collaborate with fellow peers and work in team based environment
- Familiar with AWMAC Standards or equivalent cabinetry standards
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.
- Work area has fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
- Fast-paced environment, at times subject to schedule and priority changes on short notice.
