The opportunity:



The University of Manitoba is looking for an Aurora Finance System & Functional Specialist. This position will focus on the daily tasks required to maintain the technical & reporting aspects of the financial systems and liaise with the helpdesk team, system administrators, the Manager, faculties or units and internal technical experts to resolve issues.

The Aurora Finance System & Functional Specialist will also be responsible for supporting the Manager and system administrators in testing system enhancements including software upgrades, system changes, electronic report distribution, encumbrance management, approval work flow functionality, system integration and client support that enrich the internal financial controls of the University.

The qualifications and experience we're looking for:



An undergraduate degree in a related discipline required. Training in Business System Analysis, accounting for business and financial management, adult teaching or other related professional development is an asset. Minimum of 3 years' experience supporting implementation and administration of complex financial management systems, and performing data analysis, with a focus on processes, data integrity and collaboration is required. Must have experience in supporting business processes and business process improvements. Proven knowledge of several large complex technological systems, concepts and definitions used in an accounting environment is required. Previous experience reviewing system requirements and recommending appropriate system management measures is required. Experience with multiple hardware and software environments is required. Knowledge of components of application and infrastructure is required. Experience with tools and technologies used to design, plan, and validate confidential financial data is required. Strong understanding of the delivery of business solutions using formal development methodologies/processes is required. In-depth experience and understanding of client service and business relationship management is required. Experience with working with a team for system implementations, application management and business processes required. Must have experience developing and delivering training materials in a variety of formats. Previous experience working in a major financial system and familiarity with the University of Manitoba or non-profit environment preferred. Candidates working towards a professional accounting designation and/or a Business System Analyst certification preferred. Knowledge of varying software programs to manage development and distribution of training materials is preferred. Demonstrated experience implementing application and infrastructure solutions, technology components and operational processes are an asset. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Strong verbal and written communication skills required, including technical writing. Strong presentation skills required. Strong problem solving and customer service skills required. Demonstrated design and documentation skills are required. Demonstrated planning and organizational skills are required. Demonstrated tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature is required. Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, classroom facilitation and collaboration are required. Must be skilled in the use of a computer and the advanced features of M365 (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook, etc). Ability to multi-task and manage projects required. Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment is required. Ability to quickly comprehend the functions, capabilities, and applicability to internal processes of new technologies is required. Proven ability to adopt productive solutions and ways of approaching situations to address issues or concerns raised by clients is required. Proven ability to articulate complex concepts and procedures to audiences with varying levels of system or process expertise is required. Proven ability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships is required. Ability to work in a professional, confidential, and productive way required Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and promote change in departments required Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
