Position Summary




Are you passionate about cutting-edge technology and its role in transforming education? The AV Support Specialist position offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact in the world of hybrid and remote learning. As part of the Learning Space Audio-Visual (LSAV) team within the Digital Learning Environment (DLE) portfolio at the University of Alberta, this role plays a critical part in connecting the main Edmonton campus with the Grande Prairie Medical School--ensuring that future physicians can learn, collaborate, and thrive, no matter where they are.


This dynamic role puts you at the heart of real-time classroom support, where you'll work directly with educators and learners to ensure seamless audiovisual performance, from live lectures to recorded sessions. Whether you're fine-tuning camera feeds, resolving AV issues on the fly, or clipping and posting completed content for remote learners, you'll be the trusted expert behind the scenes, enabling smooth communication between campuses.

Duties



Manage AV operations on-site in Edmonton, including live classroom support, lecture recordings, and remote teaching assistance Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize AV hardware such as cameras, microphones, displays, and conferencing tools Clip, edit, and post recorded video content to support remote and blended learning delivery Collaborate with instructional and technical teams to resolve connectivity issues and enhance learning experiences Coordinate closely with AV counterparts in Grande Prairie to ensure a seamless and consistent educational experience across both sites

Minimum Qualifications



Diploma in the area of media, design, theatre production, radio/television, and/or IT 3+ years of experience in the audiovisual or IT industry Intermediate to advanced technical knowledge of web and video conferencing systems Experience working within an educational environment and use of curriculum management & program delivery systems Experience with video and audio editing software, including Yuja Experience with training both groups and individuals Demonstrated analytical and diagnostic skills Ability to manage multiple priorities Class 5 Full Licence, non-GDL Driver Licence Strong communication (oral and written), problem-solving, analytical and time management skills AVIXA AV Essentials Be able to deal with change and ambiguity Excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications



NAlT Electronics Engineering Technology Diploma CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D, or CET Certification A+ Certification IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) - Foundations Course The ability to converse in multiple languages
