Atlantic Canada, also called the Atlantic provinces, is the region of Eastern Canada comprising the provinces located on the Atlantic coast, excluding Quebec. The four provinces are New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

Essential

  • Post-Secondary degree plus 5-7 years of experience in community development, public engagement, or related field
  • Skilled at managing and developing relationships and facilitation
  • Ability to work with an advisory body, including development of the body to shape MCC\'s priorities in the region.
  • Strategic planning and project management and reporting
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Anabaptist theology and MCC\'s philosophy of service and development.
  • Ability to successfully manage and account for MCC financial resources within the regional program.
  • Ability to work with issues of equity in cross-cultural settings.
  • Ability to understand and work successfully within the structure and organizational culture of large non-profit organizations such as MCC.
  • Knowledgeable about Canadian government policy and process and advocacy as a tool for change
  • Knowledgeable around social justice issues related to the priorities of MCC
  • Attentive to national conversations related to Indigenous justice as connected to Peace & Justice Office priorities
  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance to relevant networks
  • Successful criminal record check
Preferred
  • Previous MCC experience preferred.
  • Fluency in French (spoken and written) is an asset.
Job Synopsis The MCC Atlantic Canada Regional Representative is a heavily relationship-based role responsible determining, shaping and implementing MCC\'s work d out in the Atlantic Canada - New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador and Prince Edward Island. This includes forming and working with an advisory body to determine the balance of supporter relationships and education, building MCC\'s supporter base, fundraising and collaborating on partnerships and funding projects, and administrative tasks to ensure that MCC is able to meet their goals in the region. The diverse demands of this position allow for a flexible work schedule.
This position is accountable to the Co-Director of the Peace & Justice Office; however, it requires close collaboration with other members of the Peace & Justice Office staff, as well as program staff throughout MCC.
The position is remote, with the expectation that the candidate is located in Atlantic Canada. This position is available on a salaried basis.

  • Ensure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, spending time in devotions and prayer with all in attendance in local MCC setting.
  • Model nonviolent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public.
  • Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use their gifts within the local faith community.
Duties
  • Public engagement and donor relations - 60%
o Initiate and maintain relationships and networks in the community, including with local constituent and potential constituent churches
o Promote MCC\'s educational resources and service and advocacy opportunities, and teach and preach in local churches and gatherings, as invited and as time permits.
o Managing Summerbridge and everything related to it (from recruitment to application to management of the participants, and the admin tasks that go along with it).
o Participate in the MCC Indigenous Neighbors Network.
o o Participate in ecumenical conversations or working groups around Indigenous justice and advocacy
o Connect with other Atlantic provinces and relationships Select, build, maintain and strengthen relationships with program partners.
o Fundraising (growing MCC donor base)
  • Program Development and Management - 20%
o In consultation with the Peace & Justice Office Co-Director, identify regional needs and priorities and develop appropriate program strategies in response. Current program priorities include Indigenous Neighbours
o Monitor program partnerships and MCC-implemented program, ensuring program objectives and partner agreements are being met. Project MOUs
o Report on program activities and outcomes as required by MCC\'s Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting systems.
o Participation in Indigenous Neighbors Network
o Oversee Indigenous Solidarity Fund
o Project MOUs creation and oversight
o Represent MCC Atlantic Canada on the Canadian Advocacy Network
  • Administration - 20%
o Develop plans and budgets in collaboration with Peace & Justice Office Co-Director
o Ensure the maintenance of the necessary financial records, filing systems and office equipment, following MCC-wide procedures where applicable.
o Report on program activities and outcomes as required by MCC\'s Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting systems.
o Participate in Peace & Justice Office team meetings

o Other duties as assigned
