Position Summary:





Under supervision of the Manager, the Athletic Facilities & Recreation Coordinator is responsible for providing front line service for students, staff, alumni, and community members using the Athletic Facilities (Limberlost). Main duties include monitoring access into the facility, administering memberships and locker services, dispensing equipment, setting up and tearing down equipment, training and overseeing part-time staff.

Key Responsibilities:





Provide point of service contact for all students, staff, alumni and community members in the Athletic Centre. Develop a positive role model relationship with students, staff, and other facility users. Monitor access into the facility and field questions, provide information, and dispense equipment. Give the necessary assistance and/or referral for anyone inquiring about the athletic centre (in-person, email, telephone). Process and track memberships and registrations. Act as the first point of contact for emergency situations, coordinating with security and first aid as needed and emergency & medical services wherever appropriate. Note that the incumbent may be required to act as emergency responder during evening and weekend hours if on shift. Oversee the effective part-time staffing operation of the Athletic Centre under the supervision of the Manager. Participate in the hiring process of part-time student staff, supporting the Manager. Train, schedule and guide part-time student staff. With Manager approval, independently design, implement and facilitate sport and fitness-related programs on-campus, including intramural leagues, recreational tournaments and activities, Fitness Centre programming and Fitness Classes. Oversee the safe operation of the Fitness Centre, including ongoing equipment sourcing, maintenance and annual service. Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:





Two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institute in any Sport Administration/Management, Recreation and Leisure or equivalent. Current First Aid and CPR C certification. WHMIS training. Diversity and Inclusion, Positive Space, or other similar certificate/training. National Coaching Certification Program - Community Sport or similar. Minimum two (2) years' experience in a post-secondary or adult community recreation environment or facility. Coordinating and convening tournaments, leagues, camps, and other athletic and recreation events including supervision others, staff training, budgeting experience, and good knowledge of common computer software. Sports administration experience is essential. Experience and knowledge in a variety of sports and their respective sport regulating bodies and rules.

Skills and Attributes:





Solid scheduling, computer, and file management skills. Attention to detail. Able to lift up to and over 20 kg or 44 lbs (i.e., sports equipment, shipments, supplies, etc.). Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.

Credentials may require validation at the time of interviews or offer. Priority will be given to internal candidates per our Support Staff Collective Agreement.
