Overview
------------
The Associate Vice-Provost, Institutional Planning & Analysis provides senior-level analytical, research, and policy expertise to support evidence-based decision-making, integrated planning, and strategic initiatives at Lakehead University. Reporting to the Vice-Provost, Institutional Planning &; Analysis, this role plays a critical leadership function in multi-year planning, budgeting, enrolment management, policy response, and institutional reporting. The position works closely with executive leadership and serves as a delegate for the Vice-Provost as required, including representing the University at provincial and sector-wide tables.
Responsibilities
--------------------
Provide senior analytical and strategic support for integrated, multi-year planning, budgeting, and strategic enrolment management
Lead enrolment analysis, modelling, forecasting, and revenue projections to inform institutional sustainability and decision-making
Develop and present complex data, forecasts, and scenario analyses to senior leadership, governance bodies, and external stakeholders
Support institutional responses to provincial and sector policy development through research, analysis, and risk assessment
Represent Lakehead University on provincial and sector-wide committees and act as Vice- Provost delegate as required
Lead or oversee institutional research, data governance, accountability reporting, and submissions to government and sector bodies
Provide expert advice on policy implications, funding formulas, and enrolment-related impacts on University finances
Support program planning, new program development, cyclical program and accreditation reviews, and environmental scanning
Contribute to strategic initiatives led by the President, Provost, and Vice-Provost, including major academic and capital initiatives
Promote best practices in analytics, forecasting, data visualization, change management, and performance management
Foster a high-performing, service-oriented, and collaborative team environment within Institutional Planning & Analysis
Qualifications
------------------
Master's degree in Statistics, Business, Public Policy, or a related field with a strong research focus
Extensive experience in institutional research, policy analysis, strategic planning, or a related senior analytical role
Advanced expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and statistical analysis, forecasting methodologies, and research design
Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret enrolment impacts on revenue and funding models
Advanced proficiency with analytical and data management software (e.g., SPSS/SAS, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to learn institutional systems
Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex and ambiguous information into clear, actionable insights for senior decision-makers
Excellent written, oral, and persuasive communication skills, including presentation to executive and external audiences
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, meet competing deadlines, and exercise sound judgment with a high degree of accuracy and discretion
Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-management skills in a complex organizational environment
