What you'll do...
Underwriting Portfolio Management
Work within defined limits of authority, consistently provide high quality decisions that support the achievement of Heartland financial targets in accordance with the operational plan.
Identify positive and negative trends in new business submissions being received and communicate findings to management.
Support underwriting operations by reviewing and preparing policy transactions for issuance by Senior Underwriter's.
Order inspections, or other underwriting information for use in the analysis of critical risk hazards and decision making.
Product and Pricing Management
Grasp and understand Heartland's market strategies and ensure those strategies are effectively implemented on a day-to-day basis.
Use front-line knowledge of the marketplace to assist management in the development of products, pricing and services that support our corporate market positioning strategies.
Provide management with product & service initiatives being provided by our competitors
Stakeholder Relationship Management
Provide underwriting support of the Heartland value proposition of exemplary customer experience through the ongoing development of relationships with key stakeholders.
Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through personal accountability and high-quality decision making.
Form effective relationships with customers, competitors and business partners as necessary to capitalize on target market segments.
Corporate Governance/Regulator Compliance
Uphold corporate governance and regulatory compliance policies and procedures.
Ensure that day-to-day underwriting practices conform to legal, regulatory, compliancy and privacy obligations as required within the regulatory environment.
Demonstrates awareness of underwritings' legal and regulatory environment
Responsibilities
Assist in logging new farm & commercial submissions and setting up new accounts in the policy administration system.
Assist in farm & commercial renewal and endorsement preparation including requesting supporting documents from brokers.
Assist with the ordering and processing of loss prevention inspection reports.
Monitor and prioritize incoming broker requests and respond on behalf of underwriting.
Participate in training and development initiatives to constantly enhance the quality of decision making;
Underwrite low complexity renewals and policy endorsements.
What you'll bring...
1 to 3 years of experience in the insurance industry or a graduate of an insurance specific college/university program.
Post-secondary education, or working towards CIP designation
Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize varying requests.
You are a skilled communicator who can adapt your approach to your audience.
You are an enthusiastic learner who thrives within a team or independently.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $60,000. The salary for the successful candidate will be determined by various factors including but not limited to an individual's relevant experience, knowledge, skills, along with internal equity, and market considerations.
