Nexelis, a Q2 Solutions company, keeps growing and we are looking for an enthusiastic Associate Scientist to join our Virology team. At Nexelis you will have the chance to participate in the daily life of the most successful advanced testing service provider in the immunology field. Involved in more than 15 SARS-CoV-2 vaccine developments in partnership with multinational pharmaceutical companies, innovative biotechnology companies and prestigious NGOs such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation or CEPI, we also proudly serve the needs of our clients in fields such as Flu (universal and seasonal), meningitis, respiratory syncytial virus, chikungunya, malaria, or HPV and are growing an immune-oncology franchise.

Your main responsibilities

  • Plan and execute laboratory virology experiments experiments to assess the immune responses to various vaccine/drug candidates, while following SOPs;
  • Follow procedures in place to ensure the quality and integrity of results;
  • Analyze the results obtained and synthesize them as needed;
  • Carry out the maintenance and calibration of instruments when necessary;
  • Proactively participate in all initiatives that optimize operations, satisfy our customers and grow the business.
  • Participate in general laboratory duties including solution preparation, cleaning of lab equipment.
  • Support Scientist and Team Leaders in daily virology lab activities.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety standards in terms of personal protection, laboratory maintenance and work procedures.
  • Be compliant with all applicable regulations (e.g., GCLP)
  • Aseptically maintain cell line cultures as required;
What we are looking for
  • DEC or Bachelor's in Immunology, Biochemistry, Biology or Microbiology or related scientific field, or equivalent;
  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of virology/bacteriology and/or innate immunity;
  • Requires basic knowledge of assigned technical area, systems and procedures obtained through prior work experience.
  • Knowledge of working aseptically (e.g. Biological Safety Cabinet);
  • 6 months of experience in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) is an asset;
  • Experience in Industry (CRO, BioPharma or Biotech environment);
  • Comfortable working in high growth environments.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and already be in Canadian territory by the time of sending their application.
