CBC New Brunswick is looking for an energetic and enterprising Associate Producer to join the Information Morning Saint John radio program team. This position strikes a balance for that person who takes as much pride in their journalism as they do in taking the show live to air as the technician.
You will start your weekday by connecting with the host and mounting a live radio show. You will operate the console and troubleshoot if something is amiss, making sure everything rolls out smoothly and sounds great. You will also go live into the program, providing various updates and bantering with the host. All of this requires you to be calm and level-headed in a high-paced, early morning environment and to be comfortable with live programming, both in front of and behind the microphone.
Following the live program you will connect with the rest of the programming team and your newsroom colleagues. You will participate in discussion about the program, the news of the day, story follows, events happening in the region, and you will pitch original story ideas. With appropriate direction from one or more producers, you will then assist with pre-tapes, chase guests, prepare interview scripts, produce audio-rich paks, and participate in the development of regular features and program segments. This requires you to be a team player who works well with different people and is ready to jump in as needed as well as being able to work independently to deliver high quality results with tight deadlines.
This role is part of a multi-platform newsroom team spread over multiple locations in New Brunswick. While you are focused on ensuring a great experience for the listeners of Information Morning Saint John, you are equally committed to the public service journalism and programming delivered on all CBC platforms. This means you are comfortable leveraging a variety of storytelling tools and techniques, and adapting to evolving technologies.
In addition to the skills and experience you bring to the role, you appreciate different perspectives and experiences and understand the importance of diversity and inclusion. You are also committed to practicing and promoting the values of a respectful work culture.
