Position Overview
In support of the Communications, Marketing and Engagement department, the Associate, Marketing, Creative and Production Services is responsible for leading and executing integrated marketing, creative and production services for the official Tourism Vaughan destination marketing organization for the city of Vaughan as well as other departments as required. Demonstrated ability to manage strategic marketing initiatives, oversee campaign execution and support creative and branding consistency across all platforms. Skilled in producing digital and print content, with experience in photography and videography. Contributes to creative ideas and provides on-site support for events, when needed.
Responsibilities
Project Coordination:

  • Leads, alongside Tourism Vaughan staff, the development and execution of strategic marketing campaigns to encourage visitation to the city in the leisure, sports, and business events sectors, and corporate initiatives, including content planning, creative development/graphic design, advertising and performance evaluation.
  • Supports the development of departmental print and digital materials, including brochures, flyers, presentations and reports, posters, signs, motion graphics, advertising, etc., and ensures conformity to corporate standards. This includes creating design elements for the City's electronic channels, including social media, eNewsletters, websites, apps and Vaughan TV, among others.
  • Provides advice in the development and implementation of departmental and special project communications, as assigned, while maintaining the City's brand integrity.
  • Oversees the direction of activities of printers and service providers for layout, schedules, paper, colour, quality control and other related issues, as required.
  • Manages and updates the City's Digital Media Asset Library filing system and photo libraries/inventory.
  • Provides on-site event support to assist in the delivery of marketing and creative services business functions.
  • Acts as a member of the Public Information Team during emergencies in accordance with the Emergency Communications Plan.
Interactions with Others:
  • Liaises with department staff in Communications, Marketing and Engagement and across the Corporation, regarding the creative development process and product development.
  • Liaises with external vendors to ensure creative and graphic design projects conform to Vaughan'svisual identity standards and corporate branding. Participates in press and other approvals, asrequired.
  • Serves on marketing, promotional and communications committees and taskforces as assigned.
Other Duties:
  • Performs other related tasks and projects, as assigned, which are in accordance with job responsibilities or necessary departmental or corporate objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the corporate Occupational Health and Safety Policy and related procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarian Disability Act (AODA) and related policy and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Successful completion of a (4) four-year University Degree in Marketing, Communications or Graphic Design or suitable equivalent.
  • More than four (4) years of related experience in marketing, creative production and development of print/digital materials, including producing editorial and camera-ready artwork, working with vendors, securing advertising, and managing brand-aligned campaigns.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Canva).
  • Knowledge of digital marketing practices, including social media, email, SEO/SEM, analytics and campaign measurement.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (AODA, WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Knowledge of photo and video production workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage design and media projects successfully, from start to completion.
  • Strong creative and problem-solving skills as well as a solid understanding of writing, grammar and punctuation principles.
  • Superior customer service skills including the ability to work collaboratively and professionally with staff teams, agencies and external contacts.
  • Working knowledge of computer software packages including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook. Experience creating accessible and brand-compliant Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates is an asset.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and common software programs to produce accessible documents, presentations and materials in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Politically and culturally sensitive.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the City's core competencies.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • Possesses a valid Ontario "G" Driver's License, in good standing, with access to a reliable vehicle for corporate use.
Working Conditions:
  • Standard office environment. Travel to events, as required.
