As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro1-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.

Primary Responsibilities

• This role is for the weekend shift
• Support regularly occurring cell team activities in the coating/optics and diamond turning departments: Daily Whiteboard,MRB, Cell Program Management Review
• Support root cause investigations on production failures and customer returns
• Assist Procurement, Design,Material, and QA departments in vendor audits, root cause investigations and technical support
• Continually monitor processes and make continuous improvement recommendations
• Support process development to ensure smooth transitionof newly developed productsinto manufacturing
• Undertake and update various projects simultaneously,based on priority set by supervisor, while having the ability to bring projects to closure in a timely fashion
• Work with Coating Designer & Sr. Mfg. Engineers to perform experiments and testing

Required Capabilities

• Knowledgeable about thin film coating processes, coating chamber preparation, optics manufacturing processes, machines and testing
• Ability to operate and support zygo, spectrophotometer and support metrologyhardware and upgrades
• Excellent technicalcommunication skills
• Solid presentation and effective communication skills
• Understands when to apply a sense of urgency
• Strong problemsolvingaptitude
• Strong commitment to continuous improvement
• Highly motivated and have a teamwork mindset

Desired Education and Experiences

• Undergraduate degree in physics and or equivalent
• 1-3 years coating & optical manufacturing experience required
• Greenbelt certification or lean manufacturing experience an asset
