Family Law Lawyer Needed

We are seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated associate to join our family law firm. This is an exciting opportunity for an associate to learn the operations of a small firm practice with supervision. The successful candidate will have the opportunity for growth and learning in respect of practice management and hands-on skills required for practice in this area in a close-knit group. Attendance at a variety of court appearances as well as alternate dispute resolution processes with supervision offers a unique mentoring opportunity in a positive and collegial work environment.

The main responsibilities/expectations will include:

Assisting in management of a high volume of client files under the supervision of the managing lawyer or managing such files independently, depending on year of call.

Communicating with clients in the course of their family law file. Strong interpersonal skills are an asset.

Drafting and reviewing documents, including but not limited to all correspondence, pleadings, motion materials, facta, mediation briefs, financial statements and affidavits of documents.

Organizing disclosure.

Operating with practice software (Divorcemate, Soluno). Strong docketing practices are an asset.

Attending various court appearances and alternate dispute resolution processes. Strong advocacy skills are an asset.

Attention to detail, time management skills, and superior client service skills are key to this position.

The preferred candidate will have hands-on experience with the life of a family law file from beginning to end.

One to three years of experience in family law practice is preferred.

Candidate must be a Member in good standing with the LSO and hold a JD or LLB from a recognized/accredited common law program.

Working remotely can be accommodated to a degree, although some in person attendance at the office or at court is required.

Expected start date: Within 2-4 weeks.
