We are seeking a motivated and independent First- or Second-Year Associate to join our Family and Civil Law Department. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong foundation in Family and Civil law and a passion for advocacy. While the primary focus will be on Family and Civil Law, there is also the opportunity to take on other legal matters based on interest and firm needs. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage cases with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
Advise and represent clients in family and civil law matters (e.g., divorce, custody, contracts, property disputes).
Draft, review, and file legal documents and agreements.
Mediate and negotiate settlements to resolve disputes.
Represent clients in court hearings, trials, and appeals.
Ensure compliance with court orders and legal obligations.
Protect the rights and interests of clients, especially in sensitive family matters.
Skills & Qualifications:
1-2 years of post-call experience in Family and Civil Law (or strong articling experience in family and civil matters).
Ability to work independently and manage cases proactively.
Strong legal research and drafting skills.
Effective advocacy and negotiation skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
Comfort appearing in court and managing client interactions.
Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and multiple cases simultaneously.
