Job Description

As a Associate Electronics Engineer at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments Inc., you will contribute to high-visibility technology and product development initiatives within the engineering team. Working closely with the Design and Product teams, you will be responsible for the electro-mechanical design, development, and testing of innovative sensor products. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-tech product development environment. In this role, you will report to the Director of Engineering.

You Will Make an Impact By:



Contributing to the development and design of next-generation technologies and new sensor products. Fostering a culture of intellectual property generation. Interacting with a multi-disciplined team to innovate novel solutions for future products. Designing schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts using Altium Designer. Developing, debugging, simulating, and testing firmware. Generating technical documentation for the transfer of technology to product development and manufacturing. Conducting design reviews and failure modes and effects analysis. Sourcing components and interfacing with the supply chain to procure required parts. Supporting team members with documentation, including detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials, performance specifications, and test/regulatory-related documents.

Skills You Bring:



Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. 2-5 years of experience in Electronics R&D and product development. Experience taking new technologies and products from concept to commercialization. Proficiency in fast prototyping and designing complex analog and digital electronic circuits and assemblies. Experience with C, C++, and HDL coding languages. Proficiency with various MCUs and interface standards, including UART, I2C, SPI, USB, and Modbus. Knowledge of analog signal transmission protocols such as 4-20mA and 0-10V. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as a team player. Excellent time management skills and commitment to meeting deadlines. Flexibility and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment. Hands-on experience with testing and debugging using electronics lab equipment. Hands-on soldering and PCBA rework skills. Knowledge of EtherCAT and LabVIEW is considered an asset.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:



Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time. Operates in a professional office and laboratory/manufacturing environment. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards including handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat. Noise level in the work environment is usually average.

Compensation:




Salary Pay Range: $55,200 - $85,000 CAD per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
