Job Title Associate Director, Wholesale Financial Controls & Systems

  • Serve as a dedicated representative of Financial Control on projects governing the implementation of major automation initiatives. This will include:
  • Ensuring key Financial Control requirements, including access to financial information and strong internal financial controls, are met prior to go-live;
  • Collaborating with regional Financial Controllers to define and document business and testing requirements;
  • Identifying and communicating emerging risks;
  • Overseeing resolution of issues that arise, collaborating with relevant stakeholders in IT, Financial Control, Product Control, Front Office and Operations; and
  • Supporting internal and external audits by providing evidence of FC testing and documentation of process/system flows.
  • Support development of a centre of excellence for IT project implementation across Capital Markets Finance. This will include:
  • Creating a playbook for IT implementation within CM Financial Control based on lessons learned from past projects;
  • Defining the controls required for ensuring that information derived from new systems is well governed;
  • Building in-house knowledge of Finance systems and end-to-end information flows, which will serve as a basis from which to quickly identify and resolve issues that arise and identify potential future issues or improvement opportunities;
  • Liaising with relevant regional Financial Controller representatives and/or representing Financial Control on future transformational IT projects.
  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities within CM FC's IT infrastructure, including but not limited to automation.
  • Help set the direction for the design and implementation of major IT initiatives within CM Financial Control as a key Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) in both systems and financial controls.
Must-have
  • Experience working in/with a Financial Control environment and familiarity with internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Experience with large IT implementation projects, either from the IT or Financial Control perspective.
  • Curiosity to explore better ways of working while maintaining a strong governance mindset, accompanied by a drive to take ownership for and resolve issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills - ability to work with people at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to manage numerous priorities simultaneously amidst tight deadlines.
Highly desirable
  • CPA or equivalent designation,
  • Exposure to Capital Markets businesses including some understanding of complex financial instruments and transactions relating to securities, derivatives and debt/equity issuances, together with a willingness and interest in deepening that knowledge.
  • Minimum 5 years of high level involvement in financial control and/or IT.
Job Summary The Associate Director, Wholesale Financial Controls & Systems will responsible to direct all aspects of finance, accounting and risk management functions for the organization. Typically manages 2 or more specialized departments comprised of supervisors, managers, professionals, and/or large numbers of operational support employees.
