Job Summary
The Associate Director of Finance (ADF) is responsible for assessing and monitoring the financial health and outlook for assigned ministry units within the division and/or social mission region through review and analysis of financial reports, to ensure Divisional leaders and/or Social Mission leaders, along with the appropriate finance Boards, have relevant information to assist them in decision-making. The ADF assists ministry units in preparing and/or reviewing proposals including financial forecasts for capital or operating projects. The ADF monitors the Territorial Operating Policy and Territorial Finance Manuals and provides direction to other staff and ministry units to achieve compliance. The ADF will be a team leader in the financial planning and budgeting processes, as well as monitor forecasted deviations to determine cause and corrective action. The incumbent will supervise, coach and mentor staff within the finance unit. The successful candidate must be a self-motivated professional with extraordinary interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in working collaboratively and strongly influencing the overall program within The Salvation Army.
Key AccountabilitiesLead the coordination and submission of ministry unit budgets, collaborating with divisional, social mission, and THQ stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate approvals. Oversee budget analysis and review processes, providing strategic recommendations for balancing and aligning with organizational goals before Board and THQ submission. Monitor budget adherence and financial performance, analyzing variances and forecasts to identify issues and implement corrective actions across all ministry units. Assess and improve financial health of ministry units, using key financial indicators to highlight concerns and develop actionable, data-driven solutions. Provide expert guidance on financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., Shelby, Business World), ensuring effective onboarding and support for finance personnel. Act as a key liaison and financial compliance advisor, resolving complex accounting issues and ensuring accurate reporting for territorial consolidation and external audits. Support ministry units in government funding processes, including the preparation of budgets, funding requests, and reporting for social mission programs. Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, monitoring ministry unit adherence to the Territorial Operating Policy and Finance Manuals. Supervise and mentor a team of financial analysts, overseeing workflow and collaboration with divisional and social mission leaders to maintain high performance standards. Lead high-impact financial initiatives and projects, contributing deep organizational insight to support strategic planning and long-term financial sustainability.

Education and Experience QualificationsCompletion of university degree. Completion of the CPA accounting designation program. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered. 5-7 years of prior related experience, including managerial experience, budget management, business management and specialized functional expertise. Exceptional analysis and problem-solving skills are essential, with the ability to work as a team member. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word is essential), as well as experience with financial modelling and accounting software. Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics. An "out of box" thinker, with ability to work under minimal direction. Ability to read, understand and modify complex text where accuracy is essential. Ability to participate in management presentations and training as required.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $81,170.48 to $101,463.10 with a maximum of $121,755.72.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
