Position Summary



We are seeking a strategic and passionate

Associate Director, Aquatics

to lead the operations and programming of the Freddie Shore Aquatic Centre. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and inclusive aquatic programming that meets the needs of our diverse community. The Associate Director will oversee staff management, program development, financial planning, and customer service, while contributing to the MNjcc's broader organizational goals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities



Organizational Culture

Strategic Program Development



Lead the design and execution of innovative, competitive, and inclusive aquatic programs that meet community needs and organizational goals. Oversee program registration, scheduling, and Amilia system input in alignment with seasonal timelines. Collaborate with Marketing to ensure effective promotion and visibility of aquatic offerings. Maintain and optimize pool schedules to ensure equitable access for members and guests. Provide direct instruction or lifeguarding support as needed.

Operational Leadership & Financial Management



Develop and manage the annual aquatics budget in collaboration with the General Manager and CFO. Oversee all administrative functions, including analytics, reporting, and policy development. Ensure compliance with MNjcc financial and operational policies, including purchasing and emergency preparedness. Lead emergency response coordination and ensure readiness of all safety equipment. Ensure compliance to all MNjcc financial and administrative policies and procedures (i.e., purchasing systems) on approval of the General Manager. Coordinate building-wide emergency response and ensure all related equipment is in working order and fully stocked (i.e., AED, first aid kits, oxygen tank, etc.)

Customer Experience



Ensure all aquatics staff are trained in MNjcc's member service standards. Maintain timely and effective communication with members, ensuring inquiries are addressed within 36 hours. Foster a welcoming and responsive environment for all users of the Aquatic Centre.

Staff Leadership & Development



Work with supervisor to oversee all aspects of aquatics operations of the Freddie Shore Aquatic Centre, including hiring, scheduling, aquatics meetings, assessing analytics and reporting, assisting in marketing initiatives. Develop and maintain staffing schedules that support safe and effective program delivery. Partner and implement ongoing training and certification programs. Promote open communication and team cohesion across aquatics staff.

Secondary Responsibilities



Support the implementation of MNjcc's Membership Model in collaboration with leadership. Participate in MNjcc-wide staff training, meetings, and cross-departmental initiatives. Work with the Accessibility & Inclusion team to ensure our Aquatics offerings meet AODA standards.

Qualifications



Minimum 3 years in a supervisory aquatics role; 5+ years in the aquatics industry.

Required certifications: SFA with CPR-C, NLS, LSI, WSI.

Preferred certifications: FAI, LSIT, WSIT, CPO.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems.

Ability to work in a warm, humid pool environment and perform physical tasks, including lifting children.

Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening and proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Legally eligible to work in Ontario/Canada.

Work Environment & Expectations



Full-time (37.5 hours/week); Occasional evening/weekend availability required

Salary and Benefits



Annual salary range: $70,000 - $75,000 A range of supplemental insurance plans, including medical (including vision care), dental, life, critical illness, and LTD. An employee assistance program.
