Purpose
The Associate Director, Communications Surveillance Product Development Lead is a key member of the Global Banking and Markets Internal Control team. This role helps make sure that the Communications Surveillance systems and solutions utilized by the bank remain current and up to par with industry best practices. This role acts as the bridge between the business and technology and translates the needs of the former into impactful delivery by the latter.

  • Work with Global Head of Communications Surveillance and regional Trade Floor Supervision leads to understand any issues of challenges with the current systems/solution
  • Engage with leadership across Internal Controls, Compliance and Legal to learn about industry developments and best practices
  • Develop product delivery roadmap to address known issues and to deliver enhancements to make sure that the program remains best-in-class relative to the industry
  • Forge relationship with key vendors used by the bank and work with them effectively to deliver any required changes to their solutions
  • Operate as lead liaison with Scotiabank Technology and work closely with them to deliver requirements, collaborate on testing and continue to evolve the solutions utilized by the Communications Surveillance program
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and new/emerging capabilities across the surveillance space; work with Global Head of Communications Surveillance to understand how Scotiabank can adopt these effectively
  • Maintain a keen risk/control focus and ensure that the program enjoys a comprehensive and effective control framework
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We\'d love to work with you if you have:
  • University degree in business, finance, other related field
  • Knowledge of GBM products or wholesale banking organization and client interaction process is an asset
  • Experience leading projects/programs is required
  • Experience with regulatory/risk related projects is preferred
  • Project management training (PMP/PRINCE/Other) is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to guide decision making process and facilitate consensus
  • Proven problem solving skills and experience
  • Strong writing skills, experience creating high quality deliverables and projects
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the Business Lines, Supervisors and other stakeholders
