Student Wellness Hub
The Student Wellness Hub provides a range of health services to McGill students with a focus on awareness, prevention, and early intervention. The Student Wellness Hub has a variety of clinicians that provide one-on-one appointments, therapy groups and other services. Within the Student Wellness Hub, the Healthy Living Annex focuses on health promotion and offers peer support programs for both the Macdonald and downtown campuses.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Student Wellness Hub, the Associate Director, Clinical Care provides strategic and operational leadership to the nursing team, nurse practitioner, and the clinical laboratory services. The incumbent leads the implementation of protocols, ensures quality assurance, and drives continuous improvement across these clinical domains.



Primary Responsibilities:

Patient CareOversee service delivery within a collaborative care model grounded in Stepped Care. Facilitate the creation and implementation of interdisciplinary initiatives with the goal of enhancing clinical services and community health. Ensure clinical services are safe, accessible, culturally responsive, and inclusive, aligning with institutional commitments to equity and mental health promotion. Implement patient care policies and procedures to improve clinical service delivery. Ensure high standards of patient care and satisfaction, with a focus on physical and mental health. Lead clinical risk mitigation efforts, including the development and implementation of protocols to prevent incorrect patient results, missed urgent requests, and other adverse outcomes. Address risk incidents, patient complaints and concerns promptly and effectively.

Quality ImprovementWithin their clinical jurisdiction, develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based protocols, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives that enhance clinical effectiveness and student outcomes. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for nursing, NP, and lab services, including lab turnaround times, error rates, and patient satisfaction. Use data to support continuous improvement strategies and ensure alignment with institutional goals.

Operational ManagementOversee clinical operations, ensuring smooth workflow and patient satisfaction. Monitor and manage appointments, appointment availability and patient flow. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Collaborate with SWH Operations on budget planning and resource allocation. Collaborate with SWH management team on strategic initiatives that support integrated wellness services aligned with SWH and university priorities. Collaborate with the Operations, Systems and Infrastructure Manager regarding the clinical aspects of lab revenue generation. Support activities related to finance, hiring, procurement and physical resources; manage the laboratory fund. Provide direct operational oversight of the Student Wellness Hub laboratory; encompassing advanced coordination, workflow optimization, and performance monitoring. Ensure adherence to EHS protocols and laboratory safety standards by overseeing safety documentation, procedural compliance, and staff training initiatives--fostering a safe and legally compliant lab environment. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, professional standards, and regulatory frameworks, while actively working to reduce systemic barriers to care. Responsible, with the Associate Director, Hub Operations , for contact tracing in the event of communicable disease exposure and reporting of clinical cases that fall under the Maladie a declaration obligatoire(MADO). Lead clinical risk management efforts across these units, including the implementation of escalation protocols, incident reporting systems, and safety procedures. Ensure compliance with McGill policies, public health mandates, and professional regulatory frameworks, particularly in high-risk clinical areas such as laboratory operations and NP practice. Contribute to the strategic direction of the Student Wellness Hub, ensuring that clinical operations and priorities are aligned with the Hub's mission and broader university institutional goals--particularly in areas of student health, wellness innovation, risk mitigation, and financial sustainability.

SupervisionOversee the integration and support of Nurse Practitioner. Supervise and support the nursing team in delivering safe, inclusive, and high-quality patient care. Manage the clinical and operational performance of the team, including nurses, and laboratory personnel. Using an EDI-informed approach, lead and manage a team of professionals and administrative staff: + Guide and coach staff to achieve unit goals and outcomes.
+ Oversee professional development planning and all HR-related matters for team under their supervision.
+ Foster excellence in student-centred clinical care.

Communication and LiaisonWork closely with other SWH management team to integrate clinical services within the broader wellness ecosystem of the Student Wellness Hub (SWH). Represent the clinical team in internal and external working groups, meetings and community events contributing to campus-wide wellness strategies and cross-sector collaboration. Facilitate effective and efficient communication between staff, healthcare providers, and patients. Liaise with external partners, such as laboratories, pharmacies, and other healthcare facilities. Stay up to date on notices from Departement de Sante Publique, Protocole d'Immunisation du Quebec (PIQ)*, and international health guidelines and trends. Liaise with these groups, as needed.



Other Qualifying Skills and/or AbilitiesGraduate degree in Nursing or related field; licensed RN or NP in Quebec. Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in clinical or healthcare settings. Strong clinical judgment and ability to make independent decisions. Proven leadership, team management, and organizational skills. Experience with Stepped Care 2.0 and culturally responsive care models. Skilled in quality improvement, risk management, and strategic planning. Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to lead teams and drive performance. Proficient in Microsoft Office, EMR systems, and digital health tools. Knowledge of public health protocols, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in clinical practice and team leadership. Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 4 (fluent) on a scale of 0-4.
