Job Description



What is the opportunity?




As Associate Director, ABL Underwriting you are part of a team within the Corporate Client Group ("CCG") responsible for the structuring and delivery of new Asset Based Lending ("ABL") loans for a targeted customer base. ABL is a highly structured product tied to the value of collateral in addition to traditional credit analysis and our loan origination targets private mid-market and small cap public Canadian corporations. As Associate Director, ABL Underwriting you will report to the Managing Director and Head of ABL Underwriting and work directly with our more senior team members on assigned client opportunities.

What will you do?



You will work as an integral deal team member assigned to structure, deliver and close new syndicated and bilateral ABL loans. This can include the preparation of credit and business committee approval submissions, building financial and borrowing availability models, analysis of 3rd party due diligence reports such as inventory appraisals and field exams and the completion of loan pricing & return models. Provide research, analysis, and data (market, industry, client, and competitor) to support the evaluation of new transactions and appropriately structure deals to mitigate risks. Assist with documentation negotiation which can include loan agreements, intercreditor agreements, landlord waivers, cash management documents, etc. Maintain ongoing contact with the client to ensure that expectations and timelines are met. Track and maintain various databases and reports such as deal pipelines, prospect databases, market updates, structure/pricing precedents, etc.

What do you need to succeed?



Must-have:



Undergraduate degree with a focus in business, accounting, economics, mathematics or other quantitative field Strong quantitative, financial and analytical skills with an ability to analyze company financial statements Basic knowledge of credit, credit metrics, credit structuring and the capability to work through Loan Agreements and other legal documents High level of attention to detail in all written communication and financial analysis Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; confident, credible and personable Ability to perform well under pressure, meet time sensitive deadlines, prioritize work, multi-task responsibilities and devote appropriate attention to each assignment while working on multiple projects

Nice to have



Graduate degree and/or professional designation such as CPA, CFA Familiarity with Asset Based Lending structures and market trends
