As directed by the Director, Information Barriers/Conflicts, the Associate is accountable for performing reviews of private-side data sources and, as required, making updates to the Canadian Control Room Database (CCRD). As part of the same update process for CCRD, the Associate will generate reports used by the private-side businesses in Capital Markets to validate the accuracy of the data in CCRD. In addition, the Associate will review, evaluate, decision (including obtaining management approval where necessary) and record outside business activities approval requests from employees of designated business and support units.
The Associate must be highly detail oriented with a good understanding of the capital markets business, to enable them to recognize situations where updates to CCRD must be made. Updates to CCRD are time sensitive and decisions must be made in situations where information is often ambiguous and incomplete. The role is also expected to keep abreast of developments in an ever-changing regulatory environment and their impact on the business.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeedReporting - review of deal pipelines, active engagement lists and call reports for reference to pending transactions; generating activity reports for Capital Markets management, and exception reporting for CMC management.
Monitoring - review incoming private-side transactions under the direction of the Director, Information Barriers/Conflicts; performing conflict checks and updating watch and restricted lists.
Compliance - reviewing, assessing, and approving or declining outside activities requests from employees of designated business and support units as well as maintaining the master record of outside directorships and investments; escalating significant compliance issues or material incidents of non-compliance to the Director, Information Barriers/Conflicts and business management promptly, including recommendations for corrective action; assisting in internal examinations and investigations.
Records Management - serving as Records Retention Coordinator for CMC, and assisting in maintaining compliance manuals, policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures to reflect the current regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement - establishing and maintaining relationships with industry colleagues and regulatory organizations; participating in appropriate industry committees and working groups; special projects as assigned from time to time.
Who you areYou can demonstrate experience and strong knowledge and understanding of CIBC's business and compliance policies and procedures impacting the Capital Markets businesses and have practical experience working in the securities industry, with strong knowledge of securities trading
It's an asset if you have working knowledge of ADP as well as completion of the Canadian Securities Course.
