We are looking for an Associate Consultant, Benefits to join our team in our Calgary office!





As an Associate Consultant on our Benefits team, you will be responsible for provides management of the financial analysis for more complex and/or larger clients.

The Business





Our Health and Group Benefits division provides a full range of consulting services to large, mid-size and small clients. These services include but are not limited to providing:


Solutions encompassing creative plan design, vendor evaluation and management; Pricing and funding strategies; Compliance and governance strategies; Due diligence of group health plans; Benchmarking analysis; Redesign of group benefits plan to realign with client's benefit philosophy; Assistance for global clients with Canadian operations; Act as intermediary between clients and insurers.

Your day as an Associate Consultant, Benefits




Analyze annual renewal for large and complex clients, conduct renewal negotiation with insurers, and prepare renewal reports. Prepare benefits program marketing specifications, analyze and comparing proposals from various insurers, prepare report summarizing results, and negotiate with selected insurers, if required Conduct various types of financial analysis such as financial experience update, renewal projection, financial reconciliation, etc. Review various insurance contracts and booklets to ensure accuracy. Review work prepared by junior associates. Support various consulting projects when needed. Build strong understanding of employee benefits program. Establish relationship with colleagues, external partners and with client teams to prepare Senior Associateship. Collaborate with colleagues to improve existing processes, tools and service offerings.

Our ideal candidate




Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of experience in consulting or group benefits insurance. Valid group insurance license, an asset. Achievement of ASA / ACIA designation of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) / Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA), an asset. Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment. Attention to detail and quality. Effective time management and organizational skills. Experience using investment manager research databases preferred. Excellent technical skills working with Microsoft 365. Bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in French and in English.
