As an Associate, Commercial Banking, you will develop underwriting skills across various industries while assisting ATB\'s Sales Teams with managing portfolios composed primarily of complex companies in both the public and private sectors with loans of $10,000,000+. To be successful in this role, you need to be driven and confident in your financial analysis skills, as you\'ll be providing credit assessments, risk analyses and assistance with achieving profitable growth. You will need to manage internal and external relationships in a positive and constructive manner while balancing critical deadlines and competing priorities.

What\'s in it for you?

As an Associate, Commercial Banking at ATB, you will be supporting multiple industries, from real estate and diversified to capital markets, all while you hone both your technical and relationship management skills to prepare you for an Associate Director role. You will be exposed to a broad network of financial institution professionals in addition to collaboration opportunities with internal partners such as risk management, financial markets and payment solutions.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the authorization of client loans and review existing client connections including renewals and expired credits.
  • Calculate financial covenants and borrowing limits using financial statements to assess risk, determine a financial structure, and make credit recommendations and decisions that are in accordance with sound credit granting principles and ATB\'s lending policy and procedures.
  • Manage risk through account monitoring to identify and act upon any deterioration of account or portfolio risk. This includes ongoing monitoring of industry reports as well as interim and year-end financial information/statements.
  • Identify clients\' financial service needs and refer opportunities to the ATB Sales Team, ATB Capital Markets, Retail Banking and other internal partners.
  • Assist the Sales Teams with improving efficiencies and profitability of the business unit.
Requirements:
  • Preference for degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or equivalent with 3-6 years relevant experience. MBA, CFA or CPA designation completed or in progress is an asset.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Exceptional financial analysis skills, and eagerness to learn.
  • Proven ability to produce effective results both independently with minimal supervision, and in a team setting.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a proven record of success who wants to be part of a team dedicated to growth and to continuous improvement.
