Associate Cloud Solutions Architect, Platform Engineering

We are currently seeking an Associate Cloud Solutions Architect who combines technical credentials and experience with a high degree of business acumen for a position within our infrastructure hosting and networks team, which provides a cloud center of excellence to the company. In this role, you will collaborate with technology peers and business partners to design and improve their cloud architectures and services at Thomson Reuters.

As part of the Platform Engineering organization, you will be part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, energetic, and high performing team at the heart of the Thomson Reuters transformation to developing cloud native applications and services. This group is nimble and creative and will shape our technology roadmap. This role will be instrumental to enabling the current and future of how we deliver our products at Thomson Reuters. You will be challenged with working in a team to identify innovative ideas and proof of concepts to deliver against existing and future needs of our customers.

About the Role

In this opportunity as an Associate Cloud Solutions Architect you will:

• Partner with various technology teams to create and oversee the architectural design of small to medium sized projects consistent with long term IT strategy to meet their business needs.
• Act as a subject matter expert when developing an approach and communicating the corresponding benefits of utilizing the Cloud technology to deliver value to our business units.
• Collaborate with teams across the business to develop reference architectures and bring them up to the latest cloud architectures and solutions, ensuring consistency with architectural standards for best practices.
• Be the technical lead, or part of technical team, when conducting project planning sessions with senior clients, business analysts, and team members to analyze development requirements, provides design recommendations for complex systems, and identify and risks.
• Understand and incorporate security best practices for the cloud, partnering with our internal security team.
• Demonstrate design concepts and technology approaches via prototypes
• Provide financial analysis for technology decisions, including cloud consumption optimization.
• Troubleshoot and resolves a variety of complex problems and technical issues taking a holistic and preventive perspective across systems and technologies.
• Establish and develop partnerships with strategic vendors.

About You

You\xe2\x80\x99re a fit for the role of Associate Cloud Solutions Architect if your background includes:

• BS/BA degree in Computer Science OR equivalent industry experience
• 8+ years of IT-relevant experience, with at least 5+ years in a Cloud Architecture role
• Ability to effectively partner with and lead/influence business project teams in building cloud service and addressing operational issues to meet business needs.
• Experience working with either AWS or Azure and familiarity with the basic concepts of the other.
• Experience working with microservices designing and implementation.
• Experience with hands-on Python development.
• Ability to collaborate with teams across the business to set standards/best practices, influence technology selections and direct a variety of projects concurrently.
• Ability to learn quickly and excellent communication skills.
• AWS and/or Azure Solution Architecture Certification is an asset
