About the Role
Are you passionate about culture, the arts, natural history, and science? Are you keen on how these elements aesthetically come together to tell the many stories of humanity? And most importantly, are you a collaborative, present servant leader with a technical engineering background and a track record of leading a facilities team with tact, diplomacy, energy, and passion?
The AVP of Facilities is responsible for planning, program management and implementation of best practices for all aspects of building engineering, maintenance, security and housekeeping. The second primary role is involvement in the strategic implementation of an overall capital development plan for the Museum, which includes preventative maintenance planning, repair and rehabilitation capital budgeting, as well as current and future building needs, requirements, acquisition and development.
Reporting into the Chief of Facilities, the AVP will be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day facilities matters at the ROM, including oversight of a multi-million dollar capital budget dedicated to capital projects related to service, maintenance and engineering of the existing facilities. Leading a team that includes unionized staff engineers and mechanics, as well as a large housekeeping team and its manager and team leads, the AVP will oversee a team that is dedicated and committed to ensuring the visitor experience at the ROM is world-class to everyone that walks through their doors.
This is an incredible opportunity for a facilities leader who has an immense amount of pride and satisfaction leading by example. The ROM and its combined square feet of buildings date from 1917 up to and including the construction of the \xe2\x80\x98crystal\xe2\x80\x99 in 2005, and the complexity of the heritage buildings and necessary capital improvement projects require a leader who thrives working shoulder to shoulder with their engineering, maintenance and housekeeping teams.
The ROM hosts more than 300 events a year in addition to regular programming, and unique events like RAD (ROM After Dark) offer unique, exciting challenges for this facilities leader.
