Primary responsibilities are around product business planning and execution of that business plan, bringing to bear resources from across the firm to accelerate business goals, and act as a guide, leader, and coach expectations to a team of product specialists in the institutional channel. The Product Specialists are experts in the strategies for sale to institutional clients, and together with the AVP the relevant strategies are given direction, narrative, and then presented to that channel.Working within a matrix leadership structure role includes people leadership and coaching responsibilities for Product Specialists within the investment boutiques, who serve multiple business lines in promoting the investment strategies under their purview. The role is also primarily responsible for business planning.Importantly, the Investment Director will demonstrate a deep understanding of each channel, develop appropriate strategies, and conduct needs analysis to assist product positioning. The Investment Director will also provide input to strategic direction for strategies, engage in thought leadership, and interact with the portfolio management teams as needed.She/he will play an active and important role in support of Mackenzie\xe2\x80\x99s worldwide growth in the following areas:Product Management & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute business-specific product management strategies for institutional investment products.
  • Lead short and long-term Product business planning, including product lifecycle decisions or innovations, and associated prioritizations.
  • Coordinate and lead competitive analysis to assist product positioning and differentiation.
  • Develop and communicate expert insights on institutional investment industry trends.
  • Marketing collateral \xe2\x80\x93 act as leader, coach, and mentor to Product Specialists in creating content for fact sheets, brochures, or web content with the support of the marketing department; help them develop story lines for fund positioning, and providing input on public relations, website, sales presentations, and talking points.
  • Coordinate with portfolio management, sales, and marketing to ensure and communicate consistent product positioning and messaging.
  • Lead development of proactive insights, perspectives, product training, and support to sales teams
Business Partner:
  • Share insights garnered from institutional clients with investment, client-facing, and product development teams.
  • Serve as the client advocate within the organization.
  • Foster deep partner relationships with all functional units to ensure cohesive strategies.

Product Development:
  • Contribute new product development ideas tailored to the institutional market.
  • Gather and communicate intelligence from institutional client meetings.
  • Collaborate with product development and portfolio management colleagues to bring new ideas to market.
Revenue Growth:
  • Act as an external contact for institutional clients, including consultants and gatekeepers.
  • Develop and conduct education/training for client-facing personnel focused on institutional products.
  • Raise the profile of competitive investment strategies or solutions to the institutional client-facing organization.
  • Develop messaging and create content to differentiate products and explain performance.
  • Interact with institutional prospects/clients via email, phone, in-person meetings, and presentations.
  • Provide portfolio updates to internal and external partners.
  • Understand each channel and develop appropriate growth strategy and execution plan.
Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience with demonstrated leadership skills, with focus on the institutional asset management market.
  • Strong investment knowledge of capital markets and asset management for the client channel
  • Proven client relations skills and ability to manage multiple constituent relationships.
  • Demonstrated high impact influencing, leveraging strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and narrative-building skills
  • French language skills (written and spoken) highly desirable.
  • MBA preferred; CFA strongly preferred.
