Assistant To The Art Department Director

Job Description


Our client. a leading importer of bed, bath and kitchen accessories, is looking for an Assistant to the Art Department Director!! This person will assist in the management of the company\xe2\x80\x99s design department, as well as assist the director of the department in her daily duties.

Responsibilities:

-Follow up and write emails
Follow-up of samples. Taking reference photos for internal management purposes.
-Preparation of samples and instructions for photography by external studios. Follow up on sample shipments and returns.
\xe2\x80\x93 Ensure the return of samples and distribution to the appropriate individuals.
-Prepare and print backdrops as required.
-Save and maintain product images in a central database.
\xe2\x80\x93 Save images in special format as needed to meet specific customer specifications.
-Keep track of departmental tasks (design, packaging, catalog, photography) and in collaboration with
the department manager to ensure deadlines are met. When necessary, you will contact team members directly on behalf of the Director.
-Enter department members\xe2\x80\x99 work schedules into a central calendar and keep up to date with personal
days and vacations. Notify appropriate individuals.
\xe2\x80\x93 In collaboration with the art director, build and manage seasonal color palettes for in-house collections and for specific clients.
-Proofread various documents for spelling and syntax errors (packaging, catalog) in French and English.
\xe2\x80\x93 Excellent written French and English required.
\xe2\x80\x93 Printing of presentation panels and mock-ups as needed. Preparation for mailing to clients.
-Assist in maintaining multiple files on the department\xe2\x80\x99s server.
-Assist in other tasks required for the smooth operation of the department.

Requirements:

-Be highly organized, versatile and able to move quickly from one task to another.
-Be detail oriented and have a good eye for detail.
-Have a good knowledge of the office suite in PC environment. Knowledge of project management software
will be considered an asset.
-Have basic knowledge of the Adobe suite and must be able to perform simple graphic operations in
in Photoshop and Illustrator. Knowledge of InDesign will be considered an asset.
-Have a degree in computer graphics or equivalent training.
-Be bilingual and have excellent written English and French.
-Experience in a similar position will be considered an asset.
